Running Brave Distance Project
Participant Waiver & Release of Liability Summer Development Program — 2026

Please read this document carefully before completing registration. By typing your full legal name in the registration form you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to all terms below on behalf of yourself and the minor participant.

1. Consent to Participate

I am the parent or legal guardian of the registered minor athlete. I consent to my child's participation in all practices, runs, workouts, meets, team travel, events, and related activities organized by Running Brave Distance Project ("Activities").

2. Assumption of Risk

I understand that distance running and athletic training involve inherent and unpredictable risks, including falls, collisions, overexertion, heat illness, dehydration, sprains, fractures, concussion, and other serious injury or death. I knowingly and voluntarily allow my child to participate and assume all risks associated with the Activities to the fullest extent permitted by law.

3. Release and Waiver

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I, for myself and my child, release, discharge, and agree not to sue Running Brave Distance Project, its coaches, officers, directors, volunteers, employees, agents, sponsors, landowners, event hosts, and affiliated organizations ("Released Parties") from any and all claims or liabilities arising out of or related to participation in the Activities, including claims based on ordinary negligence. This release does not apply to gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any claim that cannot legally be waived.

4. Indemnity

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from claims, losses, damages, costs, or expenses, including reasonable attorney fees, arising from my child's participation in the Activities.

5. Medical Authorization

In the event of injury, illness, or emergency, I authorize Running Brave Distance Project, its coaches, volunteers, and emergency personnel to obtain emergency medical evaluation and treatment for my child, including first aid, transport, treatment by licensed medical personnel, and hospital care if needed. I understand that every effort will be made to contact me first when practical, but treatment may proceed without delay if required for safety. I accept responsibility for all medical costs incurred.

6. Concussion Acknowledgment

I acknowledge that concussion and other brain injuries can occur in running and related activities through falls, collisions, or other incidents. I understand that if my child shows signs of concussion or other serious injury, participation will stop immediately and medical evaluation will be required before return to activity. I agree to inform Running Brave Distance Project of any known prior concussion, head injury, or condition that could affect safe participation.

7. Photo and Video Release

I grant Running Brave Distance Project permission to photograph, video record, and otherwise capture my child's image, voice, and likeness during Activities and to use those materials for program-related purposes including publicity, promotion, website content, social media, newsletters, and internal communications, without compensation. I understand that images may be shared publicly. This permission may be revoked in writing for future use only.

8. Rules and Conduct

I agree that my child will follow coach instructions, safety rules, and program conduct expectations at all times. I understand that unsafe or disruptive behavior may result in removal from an activity or suspension from the program without refund.

9. Fees

I understand that registration fees paid to Running Brave Distance Project are non-refundable except in the event that Running Brave Distance Project cancels the program entirely.

10. Severability and Governing Law

If any portion of this agreement is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law. This agreement will be interpreted under the laws of the State of Washington.
