WHAT IS RUNNING BRAVE?
Running Brave Distance Project is a Spokane-based youth distance running program for
athletes ages 8–14.
We use distance running as a vehicle to teach far more than fitness.
Our program is built to develop strong, confident, and resilient young people—on the course and in life.
Running Brave is rooted in the belief that sport, when coached with intention, can be a
powerful tool for growth.
Through structured training, mentorship, and community, athletes learn how to pursue long-term goals, embrace discipline,
and build confidence through consistent effort.
OUR APPROACH
We emphasize development over early specialization and prioritize long-term athletic and personal growth.
Athletes in Running Brave are taught to:
set meaningful, age-appropriate goals
show up with consistency and purpose
navigate adversity with resilience
reflect, adapt, and grow over time
Our training philosophy balances aerobic development, strength, speed, and mobility while fostering a positive team culture
that values effort, curiosity, and accountability.
WHO WE SERVE
Running Brave is open to youth from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
We are committed to expanding access to high-quality coaching and mentorship, and we work intentionally to reduce barriers to participation whenever possible.
At its core, Running Brave exists to help young athletes discover their potential—
both as runners and as people.
WHY RUNNING BRAVE EXISTS
Running Brave Distance Project exists to give young athletes access to something powerful and often unavailable—consistent coaching, positive mentorship, and a team that believes in them.
Distance running teaches lessons that extend far beyond sport.
It rewards patience, consistency, resilience, and courage—qualities that shape confident, capable young people in every area of life.
Our mission is simple:
To use running as a vehicle for growth, belonging, and long-term personal development—especially for youth who may not otherwise have access to structured, high-quality training environments.
OUR MISSION
Running Brave Distance Project exists to use distance running as a vehicle for long-term growth—not just athletic success.
We are committed to developing young athletes who learn how to set meaningful goals, stay consistent, work through adversity,
and carry those skills far beyond sport.
Our focus is on building strong habits, confidence, and resilience during the most formative years of development.
We believe success is measured not only by improvement on the course, but by who our athletes become over time.
OUR CORE VALUES
Everything we do at Running Brave is guided by a clear set of values:
Courage
We teach athletes to embrace challenge rather than avoid it. Growth happens when individuals learn to face discomfort with confidence and purpose.
Community
Running Brave is built on connection. Athletes learn to support one another, respect differences, and contribute to a positive team environment.
Potential
Every athlete arrives with a different starting point. Our responsibility is to help each individual grow into the strongest version of themselves—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
OUR BELIEF
“When we are a team, we are equal.”
Running Brave brings together youth from many different backgrounds, experiences, and ability levels.
Some athletes arrive for fitness, some for fun, and some with competitive goals—but once training begins, everyone stands on equal ground.
Belonging at Running Brave is not earned through talent, speed, or circumstance.
It begins the moment an athlete shows up, commits to the process, and chooses to grow.
WHAT COMES NEXT
Running Brave provides age-appropriate training pathways designed to support beginners, multi-sport athletes, and young runners ready
for a higher level of commitment.
Our programs emphasize long-term development, healthy progression, and a positive team culture—
meeting each athlete where they are and helping them move forward with confidence.
